Pine Lake Lodge

If you were a child living in the Kent, Ravenna area of Northeast Ohio from about 1970 to early 1990's you will remember going to Pine Lake Lodge at least once. I spent a good part of my childhood here sliding down the slides or trying to make it to the end of the ring climb, not to mention stuffing my face with a hot dog drenched in chili, followed by some sort of sweet treat! Unfortunately due to high insurance costs the facility had to be shut down and was left to the elements.

Mostly skeletons of the old equipment are left along with sinking docks and fallen concrete ledges. Don't bother getting on the property you'll be stopped in about 10 seconds by the locals watching the property for the landowner, but after some smooth talking I was able to move forward.

It's sad to see the place fall into disrepair over the years but I felt very fortunate to get a chance to return. Too bad it was cold and I didn't have my swim trunks...
